RECAP: LANIER
Event #1 of the 2026 GABNKS took us to one of the top fisheries in the nation, Lake Lanier. Spring events here have brought some of our most attended events, we’ve held championships, here, so we chose to highlight how well this lake fishes in the winter.
Chris willis wins lanier
The 2026 Georgia BASS Nation Kayak Series season started at Hammond’s Fishing Center wit hout anglers fishing Lake Lanier for the 3rd time in 2025.
Our anglers started the 2025 season back on January 18th 2025 with Bobby Standridge edging out Joseph Gayton by 0.50” with a 92.25” limit. Eric Hawks had the Sniper Marine Big Bass with a 20.75”. The 2nd event on Lake Lanier for 2025 happened to be the 2025 GABNKS Championship where Tom Kazmierski added to his Carl Black Cheverolet oOf Kennesaw AOY from a few year ago with the GABNKS Championship victory (189.50”) in our 2 day crown jewel event.
In that Championship Kazmierksi beat out Chris Willis finished behind Tom by nearly a full measurable fish, nearly 9.00” (180.25”). However, in this event Willis was able to get a little bit of revenge by edging Tom out for the win by only 2.75”. To put that into perspective, Tom placed 10th showing how close this field of anglers actually was. Willis tied the January winner Bobby Standridge but edged him out by 0.50” in the tiebreaker. AGAIN, Eric Hawks walks away with the Sniper Marine Big Bass with a 20.25”!!!
